Wyndham Hotel Group Enters Cayman Islands

The Wyndham Hotel Group recently announced that it is expanding its offerings of exotic vacation destinations to the Cayman Islands with development of two five-star luxury resort developments. The group recently began renovating the Ramada Grand Caymanian Beach Club & Resort, which is located on the shores of the North Sound Lagoon. The resort is undergoing a complete redo, including the addition of a 44-unit condo hotel with a private beach. Both properties are managed by the Cayman Islands-based GFK Group.

Construction recently began on the newest addition to the Wyndham Grand Collection, the 130-room Wyndham Grand Bay Waterford. Third quarter 2011 is the completion date of the new development that will feature guestrooms with a British Colonial décor and ocean views from North Sound to Rum Point. The resort will have a full spa, a pre-arrival grocery service, a car service, an on-site restaurant, a cigar room and 24/7 room service and concierge services.

"Year after year, the Cayman Islands continue to be a popular tourist destination, pulling in nearly 1.7 million visitors annually," said Doug Smith, Wyndham Hotel Group vice president of development in a recent press release. "By adding not one, but two properties in the Caymans, the Wyndham Hotel Group is well poised to take advantage of the opportunities that exist there."

Accommodations at the 170-room Ramada Grand Caymanian Beach Club and Resort include studio and one- and two- bedroom suites with full kitchens and private washer and dryer. Other amenities include a business center, an on-site restaurant, a tennis court with lights, a beach volleyball court, a freshwater pool, several hot tubs, a kids' club, and various water-related activities. All upgrades to the mixed-use luxury property are to be done sometime in 2009.
